Good Morning, We've been hearing a lot about "self-care" these days, and I understand how the concept might seem a little "impossible" for a lot of you, but perhaps it really isn't. The subject has been posted, tweeted, journaled, and sung about for some time now, and it just might feel more natural and even a real possibility. Whether it takes the form of creating positive connections in your life, versus eliminating draining attachments. Or knowing that it's "okay" to pass on some opportunities in order to protect yourself and your time. Taking care of yourself so you can stay physically, mentally, and emotionally well so you can experience better physical, mental and emotional health and well-being should never be "impossible". Self-care can be as simple as taking some time to read an article or browse through one of your favorite stores, to making a cup of tea, lighting a candle or two, playing your favorite music, and sitting on the couch. Why not wake up 20 minutes before the rest of the house does, savor a cup of coffee, and have some quiet time? Self-care could be reading a book to your toddler (or yourself) every night; taking a 10-minute walk outside; going to sleep earlier; powering down your devices in the evening; cooking with more nutritious ingredients; surrounding yourself with things that make you happy... Calling up a friend that makes you laugh and lifts your spirits. I've been "self caring" for a long time now, and understand fully that not only must you "put the oxygen mask on first...", but to be able to show up and be our best, it is important that we take care of our well-being. Sometimes the dishes and laundry can wait a little bit, remember, you are the boss, and locking yourself in your room with a "do not disturb" sign for 10 minutes is totally acceptable. One of my favorite "self-care" rituals is first acknowledging my "wins" for the day which can be so satisfying for me, and to be honest, I still need to find some sort of permission that warrants a little sweet care and downtime. Trust me, I always try to find a long list of accomplishments, and the longer the list, the sweeter my "self-care" time feels. (Is that wrong?). Sunset usually gives me a nod that it's time to light some gorgeous scented candles (preferably soy wax candles with a white floral fragrance), a hot shower with delicious smelling shampoos, and soaps. I might add a few more steps to my face care routine, always using gentle and natural products. A bit of a "mini-spa" moment.. and this really can take no more than 10 minutes. A cup of gem water tea (or a glass of wine that's been sitting with my gem droplet) and then finally sit on my couch for the first time of the day. That's it. I just sit and let the scent of the candles work it's magic while I soothe my mind with the warm red light of the setting sun. After a few moments of complete release, I go through my list of all the things I am grateful for the day. That "Ritual" is what our newest edition to our On-Line Shop, Urban Rituelle has based all of its natural and gorgeous products on. They are more than a brand, they create rituals that make people feel good! Gorgeous scented candles, scented reeds, skincare, and all ethically sourced and harvested ingredients. I am currently burning the Tiare' scented premium soy wax candle, and the fragrance is gorgeous, and burning non-toxic candles gives me peace of mind. I'm the girl who is super picky about her scented candles, I take my time in the selection process. Trust me, it is a hit-or-miss process, with so many "off-smelling" commercial scents out there. So far, all of Urban Rituelle's candles have been absolute hits! Candles not your thing? How about a reed diffuser? 24/7 fragrance for your home. Create a signature scent for your space that your friends and family will think of you when it comes up again, sometime down the line. All it takes is one scent to bring back a thousand memories. You deserve the "me-time!" so go ahead and fill your personal space with the things that make you happy, and indulge in the simple things in life that make you feel good. Here's to the start of a good weekend Almar
